IoT and the Digital Twin

The digital twin’s changing role

Manufacturing organizations are increasingly looking to digital twins to save time and money in the product development lifecycle. In this Siemens’ blog post, Chad Jackson discusses how these virtual models of both products and plants help organizations streamline the product development process from design to operation and leverage the symbiotic relationship between plants and products to gain insights that power more informed decisions.

The Role of the Digital Thread and Digital Twin in Digital Transformation

While the concepts of the digital twin and the digital thread are relatively new to the industry, they have quickly gained traction. In this Siemens’ post, Chad Jackson discusses the roles of both the digital twin and the digital thread in greater digital transformation initiatives.

Digital Twin vs. Digital Thread

Digital twin and digital thread are terms that are used a lot in the industry today. Why are the digital twin and digital thread so important for collaboration today? Our chief analyst defines digital twin and digital thread and the important role they play in product development

WHAT IS A DIGITAL TWIN OF A PRODUCTION SYSTEM AND WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO USE IT?

A digital twin of a production system feeds production line sensor data into a simulation of the production line. You can then measure virtual sensors and capture virtual sensor data off of the simulation. When you combine that with the physical sensor data, you have a richer view into what is actually happening in the production system overall. In this post, Chad Jackson discusses the value of running virtual and physical sensors together.
