This post provides an overview of the capabilities that this new product, Arena Exchange, provides as well as my commentary and analysis on what it means for engineering organizations.
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
Concurrent Product Development: Problem Solved or Issue Ignored?
This post reviews the value proposition of Concurrent Product Development, originally powered by CAD, as well as revisits why it is no longer a central topic in the industry.
ENOVIA Data Management: Less PDM-ish, More PLM-ish
This post provides details on ENOVIA data management capabilities as well as my perspective on how it can impact an engineering organization’s ability to collaborate.
What is Siemens PLM’s HD-PLM?

3DEXPERIENCE: I Finally Get It
Since Dassault Systèmes released their announcement 3DEXPERIENCE, many have assumed it was merely a grand vision. It turns out it is something far more tangible.
What’s the Biggest Challenge in Transitioning to PLM?
Yes, this is a pop quiz. Alright. Quick, now, think about your answer. Got it? OK, now, hold on to it. Remember it. Stick it in a safe place in your head.
Alright. Ready to hear mine? Let’s see if we agree. On the edge of your seat? OK, Here it is.
Mitigating the Legacy Data Risk to PLM Deployments
Deploying PLM or PDM? Heh. That’s literally a whole different class of software. Many things can go horribly wrong along the way to a go-live date. If you’re leading the deployment of such a system, be ready. There will be surprises along the way. What surprises? Well, let’s discuss.
PLM Requires Business Transformation? Bollocks
Do you read Jos Voskuil’s blog? If you don’t, and you’re involved in PLM at your company, you should follow his posts. He has great ideas and insights into how this technology can be applied to engineering and product development at large. On April 2nd, he published a post titled PLM is a Journey. A few notable points caught my attention.
In the 3DEXPERIENCE Forum, Vision Takes Center Stage

There are a few really well written summaries of the event and the message from DS, but in short, it was this: an experience is what occurs during the development of a product. And that experience needs to be supported across many different software systems and applications like ENOVIA, CATIA, SIMULIA and the like.
