Deploying PLM. I know few technical champions that face the prospect of starting a PLM deployment with earnest joy. Mostly, that’s because it can be a long, hard slog. According to posts like this one there are fundamental pieces of PLM that you really need to put in place before you get into more advanced capabilities of PLM. Concurrent Engineering, a PTC reseller and author of the blog post above, is by no means alone. You’ll find such posts on the basics, foundation or fundamentals of PLM all over the place. This view has been in place for years now.

My expectation is the fact that Imagine.Lab programs is going to be stand alone choices, while Virtual.Lab and SamTech programs will probably be folded into NX. I additionally expect the exam choices to continue being stand alone choices.

Where the Interoperability Movement Falls Flat
Ah, interoperability. A lot of changed over the course of the last few years. The CAD industry has become reinvigorated. 3D visualization seems to have become more focused on applications as opposed to just cool technology. PLM systems have started to become mainstream while more granular systems have simultaneously emerged. And despite all that change, at least one thing has been very consistent.
